Archaeology
AECOM’s team of archaeologists has the expertise to respond effectively to the continuously changing challenges involved in documenting and preserving our nation’s heritage. Our capabilities include conducting all levels of archaeological survey, excavating highly complex sites in challenging conditions, and delivering timely and accurate data to our clients. AECOM maintains a permanent and qualified staff of nearly 50 archaeologists. All Senior Archaeologists meet or exceed the Secretary of the Interior’s standards and are OSHA HAZWOPOR trained. Our services include: 1) documentary research, 2) archaeological monitoring during construction, 3) archaeological and historic architectural surveys, 4) site evaluations, and 5) data-recovery programs. These services are provided to increase sensitivity and stewardship in historic preservation. Our staff is well versed in National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) regulations, National Historic Preservation Act (NHPA) Section 106 requirements for archaeological and historical investigations, and U.S. Department of Transportation Act Section 4(f) requirements for studies involving historic properties. AECOM’s investigations comply with local, municipal, state, and federal laws and regulations.
